Choose your Favorite Spare Goggles Emoticon!
Yes, that's exactly what I said.
"Why?!" you ask.
So we can all get familiar with what's available, that's why. Also, so we can learn the lingo for inserting said emoticons withouthavingto click-n-stick 'em.
And maybe be a little bit irritating (lol )
So, here goes. Here's my current fave:
Oh, come on, live a little!

Re: Choose your Favorite Spare Goggles Emoticon!
I don't like emojis. I like things that be recreated via semaphore, like letters, and can be creative. ASCII art is far more fun.
:^) is more my style as a smiley, since it doesn't imply I have a flat nose.
}B==8)} is for when I feel like a dragon
It seems that I have to prevent 8 and ) becoming a smiley. I am very disappointed that the software makes editorial decisions for me. I have changed my preferences and hopefully turned that off. I hope you all see it as ASCII art not an emoji.

ps. We also need a better SG icon for the browser (that goes next to the SG url in the address box) if we can. At the moment, SG has blue talk bubbles, but BG had a brass cog. It would be good if SG had a pair of goggles that didn't look like sunglasses.

If you can design a new favicon, I can probably figure out how to install it. 08{)> (Bald guy with glasses, a moustache, a goatee and a smile.)

Re: Choose your Favorite Spare Goggles Emoticon!
Thanks for your responses!
AASCII art, huh? well, XD (aaagh bloody software, now I see what you meant) is what I use in youtube comments all the time when I want to look amused to the point of hilarity.
O=======||:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::> used to be for when somebody said they wanted to fence or joust on Geocities chat (other forms were used by other people to represent cricket bats, brickbats, etc. One fellow did something I can't quite recall to represent a spatula. Nope, not joking).
More recently, O000000000[]:::. or something similar was used when we who follow Lindybeige's video escapades got into pommels and such (satirical, and you kind of had to be there to get that. If you're not into Lindybeige's armaments vids, it's a bit difficult to explain). Lindy's a member on BG, or used to be. Can't recall what his moniker was/is. Maddeningly, I have a feeling that it's someone I've seen posting recently. (Stoke Mandeville was his short-lived steampunk serial's Main Character. I thought it was all pretty darned creative.).
Anybody else?

I believe this is the Brass Goggles one - http://brassgoggles.co.uk/forum/Themes/Steampunk/images/on2.gifvon Corax wrote:

I did a quick one based on the Spare Goggles image (but making it more brassy). It is 48x48 px. - https://imgur.com/a/v5XV2Fr

Favicons should be 16x16, and in .ico format. Can you provide that?Sorontar wrote:I believe this is the Brass Goggles one - http://brassgoggles.co.uk/forum/Themes/Steampunk/images/on2.gifvon Corax wrote:

I believe you can use other sizes and formats - https://www.w3schools.com/html/html_favicon.asp
I have played around with a few conversions and put them, on GDrive.

Aaaahhh yes, Powerslave. I recall that I enjoyed that album (can't remember which song in particular was on it, though.). In my case, it was an audio cassette purchase, but still. I think I still have it around here someplace...

Oh, OK, it was Aces High!
(Googled it. All my cassettes are together, but they're obscured by several stacks of odds and ends, papers, and a precarious pile of various types of tree bark (long, ridiculous story). My whole room is like that, Digging for anything in here is like mining for talc (lol).

Re: Choose your Favorite Spare Goggles Emoticon!
I noticed it :^) I might try and make it sharper but it is hard with so few pixels, trying not to make it look like sunglasses or a brassiere. The shorter the strap, the bigger the goggles, but without the strap, it wouldn't look right.
Which version did you use? 16x16 v1 or v2?
