The Zombie Apocalypse Survival Thread

This thread is dedicated to all those tactile projects meant to increase our chance of survival during whichever type of apocalypse might strike your local timeline. From Covid 19 respirators, through to impromptu heating devices meant to save us during the next subtropical snowstorm, this is the thread you want to read as you cower in your bunker.

Professor Marvel had started a thread on Brassgoggles where he was describing sundry personal space heaters, that through the inspiration from Texas' Great Freeze and Power Blackout of 2021. So for my first post I'll become the devil's advocate and state that most personal flower-pot heaters, just don't hold a candle to what I just purchased today:

Behold (cue Also sprach Zarathustra): a Propane gas space heater I found at half price!

This propane space heater will last for 5.5 hours on one standard 16 ounce cylinder. I can find camping cylinders for about$5 each at my supermarket.



Now to find a matching gas stove and solar cell for phone battery charger!

It'll be a hot time... *ducks*

I'm figuring out how to make a windscreen for my tab stove; might perhaps make it for my portable "charcoal" grill (one of those round things they sell at surpermarkets in the relevant season, which I use as a kind of big twigburning firebowl; it fits in my day pack when it's all disassembled and packed up), and put the tab stove in the grill if the weather gets parky.

We used to have a big charcoal grill in our family, a big tripod thing with a crank-up grill and a place on the side of the steel half-around rain/wind screen for a motorized rotisserie spit. Might be interesting to have a miniature one of those for my grill, though I'm perplexed as to how to make it so it'll all fold up and fit in the backpack...
