Good
Finally managed to visit the Weta exhibition at Royal Armouries, Leeds.
Excellent.
Couldn't quite justify buying the Dr Gordbolt Aether Oscillators in the shop though.

Re: How was your day thread (continued)
I had a splendiferous weekend. On Saturday my whole family went geocaching in Wollaton park (that's hunting for hidden trinkets using a geographic locational reciever, check the etherweb encyclopedia), followed by a happy hour listening to the gentleman at the industrial museum and admiring his varied collection of bicicles. (sadly I was dragged away before I could reach the steam engines and lace making machines, or I'd still be there now!)

Re: How was your day thread (continued)
Bloody long.
I got up 19 hours ago and have been cleaning the garage and the house pretty much NONSTOP since. I am exhausted, but I have to wait for my husband to get up and go to work so I can do a few more things before collapsing. I am guessing I might be able to go to bed by 11-12 (2 or 3 more hours). Then I can only sleep a few hour and I have to get up and get right back at it.
That's what I get for sewing/building stuff instead of cleaning the week before we expect a houseguest.

Not toooo bad
No arguements, no complaints, new employee to introduce.
The only hiccough was having to coach one of my post-grads through a convoluted discussion with the coroner after a "little mis-hap".
The other death wasn't my fault!

Re: How was your day thread (continued)
I took the kids out for a day on the town, dressed in our 19th century finest, in celebration of my girl's 7th birthday. Had a great time going about in Pike Place Market, and having tea and crumpets at a small shop, and spending ludicrous amounts of money at a delightful little toy store in Pioneer Square. Wish I had pictures to show off, but alas, I have no camera.
Re: How was your day thread (continued)

Re: How was your day thread (continued)
Well, yesterday I was heading back to my house from town, and I passed a big abandoned building that used to be a...library, I believe? Very beautiful, but sadly going to waste (or possibly to offices, which is just as bad). I spotted a little annex at the top of the building and thought to myself: "Wow, that would make a great laboratory."

Not very productive so far.
I'm blaming that on the wind -- very unsettled 'migraine' weather today, so my head's pretty foggy. Well, okay... plus it's full of all sorts of woolly notions!

I took the day off work because I woke up with a horrible earache in my right ear, and a sore throat. I slept a lot this morning, and feel a little better now. I'm going to have some hot tea and Hydrox.

Full of work and squid sculpting. I want to cut the fabric for my Nemo skirt but I can't bring myself to take the scissors to it just yet. I think I will make the liner and front panel first to the pretty fabrics can stay whole for a little while longer.

Re: How was your day thread (continued)
Started off really, really poor, due to multiple failing grades in the same class, then it got somewhat better because that's what six periods of doing practically nothing does. However it reverted back to poor after I got home and realized I had to study for a quiz in a difficult subject whilst people jackhammered my street. And now it's pretty neutral, mixed with a dread of tomorrow. (Chemistry quiz, work. =D Thursdays are fun!)

Was on a plane most of today. Am now in Toronto, at a debate tournament. Where I am being billeted has a very slow internet connect (hope this gets through!). It's 11:45 here, but I'm not tired 'cuz of jet-lag....
Yesterday, however, I stayed up late as I was at an excellent concert! It was worth the exhaustion on the plane......

Re: How was your day thread (continued)
Had a pretty good day, actually.
1. Worked on my new soundpost setting and adjustment tool, which I'm making from a stainless steel iced tea spoon I found at World Market (there's bound to be a better name for the thing than soundpost-setting-and-adjustment-tool, surely). I need a larger-diameter round file for cutting in the cloverleaf's recesses, but otherwise it's shaping up nicely; I should be able to readjust the soundpost by Saturday noon. Maybe I'll take a few pics of the tool and post it here or back at BG.
2. Added suspender buttons to another pair of pants.
3. Actually managed to drive to the mall, do my stresswalk, drive to the local industrial hardware store, then the local fabric & sewing store, then to the restaurant to have supper with the folks, all without a single incidence of road rage on my part (there are some real arseholes to be encountered in those areas... Well, I digress).
Apparently my insomnia is still around, but one can't have everything, I suppose.

Re: How was your day thread (continued)
oh craptacular day,
I know two people who have been sick in the last two weeks, I made a mistake and ate some things that were spiced, I've been lifting some things on a full stomach, my sleep has been disrupted, it's been hot and humid here for weeks, and when getting some of my prized roleplaying and manga collection from storage the most powerful wave of mothball smell struck me, it's permeated everything.
one or more of these factors has made me fairly ill for the last two days.
oh yes and the new sink faucet is leaking from the hot water line, so I turned it off and now the kitchen only has cold water.
I'm trying my best not to panic that I've been poisoned by the mothballs. but handling the stinky books as I've set them out for several days on the porch to air, makes me feel almost certain I will have to get rid of all of it and likely more things in my storage unit.
It's like losing everything in a fire, but having to still sort and move it all to goodness knows where.
so my day is sickly, panicking, and life upsetting.
