Experimenting with RSS feed
This forum is equipped with an RSS feed, which basically is a scrape of the latest posts on this forum which can be read by others services such as you email account, etc, like notices on your smartphone.
There is a service called IFTTT which can pipe that RSS feed from this websites and pipe it into another account, say Twitter and then automatically post to that account.
I'm performing experiments to see if it can pick up new posts with pictures and I can see them on my Twitter timeline. If successful this could create a satellite venue for the New Brassgoggles Forum, such that anonymous people on Twitter could stumble upon a post issued on "The New Brassgoggles Forum" Twitter account.
Let's see what happens...

Re: Experimenting with RSS feed
The RSS feed is available at two URLs:
https://sparegoggles.forumotion.net/feed
https://sparegoggles.forumotion.net/rss
So far only the top URL (https://sparegoggles.forumotion.net/feed) has yielded any results.
I'll continue testing and experimenting. The images I'm posting are part of the test

Continued RSS Testing
This is another test of the RSS to Twitter feed system. In the event this was an emergency this post would have been followed by instructions no one here would care about. This concludes the RSS to Twitter feed.

Unfortunately it's not working as intended. For some mysterious reason the RSS feeds is spurious in it's content. I've only managed to capture one RSS message which failed to attach any text other than the title of the thread.

Re: Experimenting with RSS feed
I can read the RSS feed in Firefox with Feedbro. I am trying to work out how it works and how it chooses what to feed to the stream, but step one is always get the data. The remainder of the data science process and the data lifecycle is another thing though.

Re: Experimenting with RSS feed
I have found a Python script on Github that might be a start - https://github.com/peterdalle/twitterbot
This uses the Feedparser library to parse the original feed then Twython to post to Twitter. Of course, for Twitter it requires you to have a Twitter Developer account and related keys set up. They require a link to a phone, which limits the shareness of the system, but once again, if we set up a BG Twitter account and share the password with the BG powers-that-be, that the phone should be able to be changed should the powers-that-be change. Of course, you would still have to have a machine that can run the Python as a cron job or a server that waits for the RSS feed.
