Unexpected Change of Nationality?
I've just noticed that, sometime since May 5th, my flag has changed from Canada to Cape Verde. Anyone else seen a change like this?

Re: Unexpected Change of Nationality?
Very strange.
All flags after East Timor have disappeared. There must be other anomalies in the imagelist as well.
I have no clue what caused this. Unfortunately, it was rather complicated to set up, as I recall, and I no longer remember how I did it.
I don't think starting from scratch is a viable option - for me, at least. I think we'd probably do best to eliminate the flag entirely. That, at least, is fairly simple.

And here I figured the lack of U.S. flag was bearing on some effort to assimilate us Yanks into other countries.

For what it's worth, I have located the cause of this issue; the resolution, however, must await the availability of my Copious Free Time.

I think I'm turning Japanese. I really think so.

Re: Unexpected Change of Nationality?
I started filling in the list, and I've run into what appears to be a reproducible bug in phpBB: I can only define 201 flags. Wikipedia lists 206 sovereign nations and some 50 dependencies, overseas territories and the like. All I can do at this point is file a bug report.

Re: Unexpected Change of Nationality?
Until you get a request from a member, I suspect you can probably omit most African and small Pacific islander nations' flags. We have never really had active BG members from there (that I can remember) unfortunately.
Can you do a simple script to run a word search on the nation names, or are command line operations on files or the database not available?
BTW, is the database of the forum in the same location as the forum software? I know that might seem like a weird question but it would make difference if one we lost access to one but not the other.

To the best of my knowledge, we do not have command line access or direct access to the database. The database and the forum software are both owned and controlled by Forumotion.

Re: Unexpected Change of Nationality?
Interesting Idea: I've just realized that the Chilean flag closely resembles the state flag of Texas, USA. Hmmm...
(Just joshing, I know it's not the same)

I see that all the time in media, because the standard emoji table don't have (obviously) US state flags. Another mistake is using Indonesia's flag instead of the US flag.
Meh. Close enough for Texas. You just have to wear gaucho pants and a poncho instead of jeans, and get a Yerba Mate tumbler.

!!! Kewl! I love Bolos, and I already wear a poncho when it gets really cold (Alpaca wool. Thing's warmer than my cousin's military parka if I tie it at the waist and keep my arms under the fabric).
Um. On the other hand, if that kind of thing applies to my characters too, Dreyfuss is gonna use the D-Hopper drive to come after me...

Re: Unexpected Change of Nationality?
I've learned that phpBB has a hard limit of 200 items in the data structure used for the flags. I think what I'll do is delete most of the flags, except for the ones I know are in use, and post a notice asking anyone who wants a flag added to post their request here.

Re: Unexpected Change of Nationality?
In reference to the instruction in another thread, I would like to request that the American (USA) flag be added. If it's already been added and I just haven't found it, then I beg your pardon.

If Sudan could be added that would be lovely. Though I'm no longer *currently* residing there, it is, and will ever be my home (it's also the flag I've been flying on BG proper since I registered... For now I'm content to fly the "Earth" flag, but if it ever does pop up Sudan as an option, I *will* fly it).

Greatly appreciate it! Not sure why it's not showing the image yet (it's got the broken image image), that's likely a "Xenos needs to clear his cache again" issue more'n anything. Either way, the colours now fly!

Nope - that was me screwing up the URL of the flag image.
