Spare thingies...
To test posting on this forum, I thought I might start a thread about spare things that people have, especially steampunk-related items.
So, what do you have?
A spare wellington boot?
A spare drigible?
A spare brass ocular enahancer?
A spare kraken?
I know I have a few spare left socks.
Or, what would you like to have a spare of?

Re: Spare thingies...
Apart from a ton of spare junk (or as I call it, essential treasured parts for future projects) taking over the house, I think I could have the beginnings of a spare tire forming around my mid drift........ i keep asking myself am I starting to get hoardy and slightly tubby in certain areas.

You can never have enough spare parts, years ago I bought a motorbike, shortly after bought another of the same...... just in case I needed spare parts. The Bullet wrote:Tons of spares (that others might not recognise as spares).

I now have 2 Harley 05 1200 Sportsters in the house taking up room, and it is a rather small dwelling, admittedly I'm slowly in the process of making one steampunk, but could be a long slog.

spares
I have ended up having 2 of everything. In some cases 4 if it is affordable.
It started out having a spare, for obvious reasons. There is a saying regarding spares or backups
"two is one and one is none"
It rapidly devolved into a rather sad philosophy:
"If I REALLY REALLY like this thing, I better find a way to get another and put it away for later,
because sure as hell and handbaskets, If I love it, they will stop making it!"
Fortunately I also discovered estate sales and thrift stores, where I can cheaply get "old quality stuff"
as opposed to this "new made in china breaks in 6 months stuff" .
and that's how I ended up the curator for the Museum of Stuff.

Re: Spare thingies...
I am hoping my creator has a few spare parts, a main frame the size of a warehouse would be nice, and maybe a spare fuse, always check the fuse first, before delving head long into things you really don't know about, but hey, give it go, mess it up and be forced to call in the professionals.

Re: Spare thingies...
I have a fish tank and have almost every spare for any unforeseen future event, heater, o rings, pipe and tubing, filter media, emergency food and water conditioner, silicone, but no spare tank, if that leaks or fails in a catastrophic way, I'm pretty much Knackered.
I like having spares, just in case.
