Eh? What's going on?

As announce via the @brasstech twitter account, there was supposed to be planned downtime today. It has gone on far too long, an incident has been opened, and I'm shopping for a new host.

Site is back online for now. Host says "it should have come back automatically", as though I did not know that; that's why I'm upset, you yutz!. Sigh.

Hooray for our team! Thanks guys! We really don't tell you often enough how much we appreciate your selfless efforts on our behalf.

Anybody else not getting BG to come up?



No, it's just me, or rather Firefox not letting me access it, AOL and IE are fine...

Herr Doktor, I cannot get the site to load via Firefox either, or Internet Explorer(yech) for that matter. I fear the blog and forum has passed into the great beyond... though I certainly hope not.

Does this mean the entire database is lost? all the archives etc? Don't suppose you were using the cloud for any of it?

As far as anyone knows, the database is still extant, it hasn't gone anywhere!

We're all still very much in the dark, and as far as anyone knows, it'll all be back and in place soon.

Dear Ladies and Getlemen:

The current crisis underscores the need to preserve the database, but moreover, the fantastic plethora of Steampunk art, physical, aural, textual, etc. It would be a shame to lose the information permanently.

While perhaps impractical, the situation begs the question: should there be some sort of physical library (eg DVD data disks) in the form of a set collecting "The Best of Brassgoggles. Years 1885-1899," for example? Perhaps take advantage of the situation to immortalize our communities achievements? I for one would love a Brassgoggles Library...

The horrible thought ocurred to me that a catastrophe like this one could simply wipe out , not our community (I don't think that's possible), but the preponderance of our forum among other fora. I apologize if this sounds too conspiratorial, but I remain perplexed in regard to the date when this happened (my roleplaying babbling I wrote a couple of pages ago nonwithstanding).

Whilst This is a very nice temporary establishment, However, this place is most disconcerting and unfamiliar; this is not the BrassGoggles I expected in this timeandplacecontimum, and I fear that I am not comfortable with it.

I never even got a chance to check the BG site out, I am a relative newcomer to the genre and only just registered an account there on the 4th. I do hope someone sorts out whatever its issues are soon. :/
