Help finding steampunk supplies for my outfit!!
Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen! I've scoured all around the ethernet without luck, and I was hoping you could help out a fellow enthusiast. I'm working on an outfit comprising of a vest and frock coat and would like to have some clasps on it like these:
or the middle clasp on this item:

However no matter how hard I try I can't seem to find them anywhere on the net! Would any of you be able to offer any assistance? I'd be much obliged if you could!
Sincerely yous,
N. Gooding

Re: Help finding steampunk supplies for my outfit!!
Aha! I know this one! If you in a position to order quantity from the US, you can get the pictured clasp from Ohio Travel Bag. They're listed under the Box, Purse and Breifcase Fasteners section as Turn Lock Purse Fasteners, and their serial number is P-2410.
I've been looking for some more locally for a while now.
In case that option is no good to you, I do not know where TechDragon procures hers from, but I am quite sure she wouldn't mind in the least pointing you towards her supplier.

Clasp sighting...
I have seen the clasp you desire (the middle one from the link) in my local Michaels craft store......

Those clasps are indeed quite common, but no less lovely. The Ohio bag site is indeed a place to purchase these clasps. Although it won't hurt to see if there are any available at local craft or leather stores.

Oh thanks to all of you very much! This is proving to be of great help to me, as I don't have a local craft store in my town (aside from the less-than-steamy supplies at wal-mart)!!

Nick -
Might want to go thrifting - don't know if you have a Goodwill, Sally Army, or AmVets close by, but one of the best sources I have found for clasps, leather bits, and hardware... seriously, check out purses, even. If it is real leather, the hardware may be solid brass, and you have a ready source for straps, gunslings, and lots of fiddly brass bits.
Good luck!

Good to know. I found them a while ago and I've never used them. But I bookmarked them because they have a good selection. Same for Ohio Travel Bag, and a couple of other companies.
