Neo-Victorian/Steampunk Ball planned for January in Texas!
The San Antonio Neo-Victorian Association is currently planning on a ball in January 2009 (Exact date TBA) down here in San Antonio, TX. We're currently working to get tons of exciting bands into town for the show (already have about two confirmed), but for now, the most important thing to do is to gauge interest!
So, who out there would come down to San Antonio for some steampunk-themed Neo-Victorian fun? Also, would you come for one day or two? Anyone willing to buy tables/booths to be vendors? Anyone want to perform?
Thanks!

Oh, I'll be on this so fast you won't believe it! My brain is about to pop with the excitement of Texas having it's very own Steampunk con. I've got nothing of enough interest to warrent buying a booth, volunteering to perform, but I'll gladly come along for the ride. And, two days, most definitely. If you choose for it to last for three I'll be there for that as well, though I've found the Friday's of most conventions to be more of a, "Welcome, welcome, now go to your rooms, we're not quite done yet." xD This is to be a weekend convention, yes?

Why yes it is! It'll all be in the same large room (it's quite large) so there will always be some sort of entertainment and vendors! We'll leave the workshops until the inaugural Fall '09 convention (which attendees of the ball will decide the name of!).
If you'd like to volunteer, we could put you on the list of volunteers, which not only guarantees free admission, but also 1/2 off for the convention!

I'd be there in a heartbeat! I'm afraid I haven't any mad skillz to flaunt, but I would most certainly be there, two days if at all possible.

Oh, we're now confirming it will be two days and are currently looking for an appropriate venue.

Hmm, a volunteer...What exactly would that entail? I'm not sure I'd be able to come upfront and say, "Yes, I most definitely can be a volunteer," nor am I sure I'm old enough. At this moment I'm not in charge of my own transportation, not to mention the one who is (my father) is having some monetary difficulties. As a self employed lawyer if his clients don't pay him, there's not much he can do. I recently had to skip a convention in Dallas due to lack of money to pay for gas, hotel room, etc, though we all hope for this problems to be corrected by January.

Such a shame as to my location for this event.

TX in January...
I expect to be back from sea (again) sometime in late Jan. I'm visiting in TX right after, and may be available, depending on timing...

Were there any way that I might attend, rest assured that I not only would, I'd aid in the staging of this. However, at present I know not how I might travel to the Lone Star State, nor where I'd stay therein. Could these issues be resolved, I'd in a heartbeat attend, but I fear I know not how they might be addressed.

Volounteers?
If it's to be in late January (after the 20th) I'd be happy to volunteer for whatever nefarious duties you require.

When and where, and I'm there.
I also have over 20 years of experience in working for various
science fiction and anime conventions, so I'd be interested in
helping as well.

Re: Neo-Victorian/Steampunk Ball planned for January in Texas!
Oh oh oh my. I was ABSOLUTELY not expecting to find anything going on in Texas, much less right here in my brand-new home of San Antonio. I am TOTALLY in, please let us know when you have the details! And if I have enough notice of times and such, I would be more than happy to volunteer; although I have no experience volunteering at cons, I am a hard-working, efficient administrative-type person, and I'd gladly push either paper or people as your needs dictate.
I just did a happy dance in my desk chair. Seriously.
