Where is everybody else?
Only 142 of us have made it here.
Shoggy's new forum only has around 35 members, so they aren't all over there.
A few seem to be at Ottens's forum, but not that many.
I've posted our Displaced Persons Camp address in as many places as I can think of, and a few people have found it that way.
I tried emailing HAC, since his horological expertise and general congeniality are sorely missed, but it appears the address I had was obsolete. It bounced.
Nobody is giving us any estimates as to when BG will be fixed. In fact, nobody is telling us anything.
Seems like a good idea to make ourselves comfortable here.
I know Pheobsky didn't want to do any more customization here, but ...
Besides, he hasn't been around in days.
Ideas on how to find our missing comrades? There were (theoretically) 4500 members. Over 800 are on BG's facebook page, but very few have made it here.

Re: Where is everybody else?
HAC was active on Clockwork Gentlemen so he may (or may not) have seen Pheobsky's post there.
Certainly not all 4500 (or even the 800 on Facebook) were frequent posters.
There are at least two Steampunk facebook groups (other than the BG one), which I keep forgetting I'm a member of - might be worth posting on those if it hasn't already been done.

Re: Where is everybody else?
We've noticed a slightly greater influx of new members than usual over at the Smoking Lounge, however, many of our members were member over at TSF also, before its downtime, and I can't say we've really become a "refugee" for lost TSF members, as Spare Goggles here is---an excellent invention, I should add! After all, the Smoking Lounge is somewhat of a different forums, attracting may different kinds of people.
But to answer the original question---I would imagine that most people are simply no-where else. Many might not even be aware that there's many other communities out there!

Re: Where is everybody else?
Oh dear - I joined the Smoking Lounge a while back and haven't posted since my introduction because I keep forgetting I joined!

Re: Where is everybody else?
I think that the core group is here, or taking advantage of the downtime to finish projects and other pressing things that assult ones aethernet time, the loss of BG probably reminded them of many things they have to do.
I for one am making great headway on a novel and a serial adventure story, along with updating my Lego MOC pages and working on a video game character costume. I suppose there will be a behemoth of a thread in the Off Topic section of BG explaining where everyone was (Once it's back up and running)

Re: Where is everybody else?
Lets all hold hands, close our eyes and say together:
"I DO Believe in tinkergirl!"
Sorry, I came over all peculiar there! I too have been directing those that I can to SpareGoggles, but I think that there was an awful lot of interent based media attention that focused on BG- I mean, WETA's raygun minisite has a link to BG, and several prop makers only found it after some prompting; anyway, if you consider that around a thousand (!) members of the forum had only posted once, or even not at all, and take into consideration that there's an inevitable fall-off from the initial thrill of being on a new forum, and that BG took a fair time to pass the thousand mark, and that such things are exponential (the more folk know about it, the more MORE folk will know about it), the 150ish members of SpareGoggles is very respectable given that it's only been a couple of weeks!
Blimey, that actually made sense!

Re: Where is everybody else?
There are people that I know were on BG but aren't on SG... I think I have the email address for one or two, so I shall attempt to contact them...
(Torvald Faust and Mr and Mrs Crowe, but I do not know where everyone else is).

I'm looking for clockworkbird and sneath and really anyone from the Wanderlust crew who could get a word to them... We were in the middle of working out some details for Steam Powered and sleeping arrangements....
If you know these lovely upstanding people could you get a word to them... We did all our contacting in Person at events or on BG?
Thanks!

hey, I've got them on my myspace, ill forward info to you.
*okay, I messaged Jennifer and Leila, though the latter has not been online for a while. They are fast friends in daily life however, so Jen should be able to get ahold of her. Forwarded them to your blogspot page, and to this site.*

Re: Where is everybody else?
I'm surprised that not that many people who bothered to join the BG facebook group would have found their way here. I guess it's not checked that often. I think we could build up SG to attract more people.
