Drat. I should have tried to save parts of Steam London for the wiki. Curse.

Re: GO AND SEE! lOOKLOOOK!
You are in luck I am running that website ripper Siliconous Skumins suggested and doing that right now. It has been at it for nearly two hours now so I may just leave it on when I go to bed. Of course I don't know what to do with the data once I have gathered it but at least I will have it.

Re: GO AND SEE! lOOKLOOOK!
Hopefully just fill in the wiki...in the 5 min I managed to get onto BG I left a message in the OOC section of Steam London with a link to the wiki...though I doubt anyone saw it.
Well...might as well give them something to look at when they return...
Speaking of which...I hope that the disaster hasn't driven anyone permenantly away.

Hopefuly thing will have sorted themseves out by the time I wake up.

Re: GO AND SEE! lOOKLOOOK!
The blog is up in Australia, but the forums are half-out.
They're not letting me login, and I'm not absolutely sure the threads are viewable (after not logging in I didn't think to check). There's a message though. The threads and messages are all safe.
I hadn't thought about anyone staying gone...I think, unless they somehow already had a reason to wish to leave, this will only feel like an unfortunate break, and no reason to pack up and go. Here's hoping.

Re: GO AND SEE! lOOKLOOOK!
Gah! I can log in but I can't see anything & it keeps telling me I have 1 new message & then telling me that I can't see it! Oh well I'm sure it'll be back soon enough...
Re: GO AND SEE! lOOKLOOOK!
Not certain what you are seeing, but here's what's on my screen at 7:30 AM on the east coast of the USA. Logging in is not an option yet. Also, Brass Goggles is back up, where we left off (ie, Ottens story on Heterodyne Designs). markf

Re: GO AND SEE! lOOKLOOOK!
At least on my PC I can no longer see the Maintenance Mode stuff and our familiar BG colors (it was there a few hours ago). Now it is just the generic 404 stuff again. markf

I suppose it's being over-optimistic to hope that this indicates someone is actually doing something positive there ... seeing as how we haven't heard a peep from anyone who knows in ages ...

Re: GO AND SEE! lOOKLOOOK!
I've had BG all along this last time but Steampunk Forum was AWOL or undergoing repairs.
I like having this additional or surrogate forum but I nearly missed finding out it existed.
(More publicity,please!)
More sites should be available on a permanent basis.
We would have our auxilaries in case of misadventure plus each would have its own participants and contributions.
I admit that I sought more of the links on the right of the BG page after Steampunk Forum was inaccessible.
(I'd have visited Clockwork Gentlemen if I'd not lost its link and forgotten the name.
Later,I discovered it was missing, as well.)
Due to some problem with the digestive biscuits on my computer,I'm unable to get into Mr. Ottens' page.
Like bookstores, antique shops, bistros and the like, each steampunk page can enhance the success of its fellows by adding to the success of the niche interest and drawing in more people who would appreciate the variety of offerings.
As much as I look forward to the successful restoration of our original sites,I hope the new and satellite venues remain with us.
Disasters such as we've had in the past argue against having an intellectual monoculture.
The more widespread and varied we become, the better our chance for survival.
Surely,we won't dilute ourselves so thinly that none of the pages would have a strong enough presence to support itself.
We might just subdivide enough not to overextend any given place with our population.
(We're a long way from being as prolific as magazines or television and radio networks.)
I applaud this effort to create Brass Goggle's "home away from home".
No doubt, that same kind of supportive attitude could maintain a synergy among our various sites long after a state of emergency was over.

will it ever come back? did it get taken by pirats?
after this post brassgoggles will come back and I will have posted for nothing.
right?
