The title itself is rather wordy

I've finally gotten around to reading A Princess of Mars. Great fun so far. I'm liking Burroughs more and more all the time. I really hope Pixar follows through on this one.

I'm in the middle of The Vesuvius Club by Mark Gatiss, one of the League of Gentlemen chaps. It is what might be described as a rollicking read and pleasingly saucy (ok, downright dirty, hehe) in places. To quote the back page:
'A thrilling plunge into Edwardian low-life and high-society in the first recorded adventure of Lucifer Box Esq- portraitist, dandy, wit, rake...and His Majesty's most dashing secret agent.'
Bliss

I've decided to continue with the works of Anthony Trollope, after a gap of a little over a year. Hence I'm currently reading Phineas Finn.

Re: The "What Are You Reading?" Thread (necroed)
Stephen Hunt's The Court of the Air. Though I feel a bit miffed: it promised "a fantastical tale of high adventure, low-life rogues and orphans on the run". What does that make it sound like? A good old-fashioned high-spirited romp with down-on-their-luck-but-plucky types getting up to high jinx in an entertaining manner; an entertaining piece of escapist story-telling. Ha!
I'll stick with it and see how it finishes, than going back to re-reading Toby Frost's Space Captain Smith series by way of light relief.

I have read that one... admittedly it was a few years ago though. Stick with it... from what I recall it does get quite exciting toward the end.

Re: The "What Are You Reading?" Thread (necroed)
I'm not complaining it's not exciting. It's just I wanted a moderately light-hearted, escapist read I can have a chuckle at before getting some shut-eye, not a tale of mass-murder in the name of religion, bloody revolution and the downfall of cities. There's also so many elements/characters/abstract ideas in it, I end up either having to refer back to something earlier (which breaks the flow) or carry on and try to pick up the significance from the context.
I suppose I wanted "The Famous Five take on Nasty Steam People With a Bit of Dirty Humour Thrown In For Good Measure" (without the grating lingo) and got "War and Peace With Cybermen".
