Pittock Mansion Picnic
Yes, the picnic at Pittock Mansion is still on for this Saturday at 2 pm. I hope the weather holds up!
I shall probably be taking public transit, so if anyone is driving and sees me collapsed alongside the road between the bus stop and the Mansion, please do stop! I shall be easy to spot - I'll be the one in the ditch looking like a roadkill beaver wearing a bowler & goggles.

finally!
Well it only took me a zillion years to get here!
Hello everyone!
Hey, don't forget that this Saturday is the Portland Halloween Bazaar! I'll be peddling Conjure Oils there! There's also going to be Gorey Details, Voodoo Donut, Madame Talbot and many other people of repute.
Here's the link for the bazaar: http://hauntedhappening.com
I REALLY want to do the tour of the Shanghai Tunnels. Particularly near Halloween. I want to see some spirits!

October 4th
There's just too much fun going on that day! I have my Graphic Novel Reading Group meeting in the morning, the HP Lovecraft Film Festival later at 1 p.m.through the evening, and choice of the Moulin Rouge party, Conflux Dark Arts Festival or Darkest of the Hillside Thickets for clubbing and boozing late at night. Now a fourth evening event! (Oh well, Mr. S. will probably drag me home and make me go to bed 'cuz I have to work the next day anyway).
I hope you make lots of money on your event for Ms. Wini !

Abney Park!
Yay! I will be going to Seattle this Friday to see the Abney Park show!
Unfortunately, I am unsure if we will return in time for the picnic Saturday at Pittock Mansion.
We had also thrown around the idea of another tea, this time at Rimsky-Korsacoffeehouse. I still want to do this, and I realize that it is a busy weekend for everyone. I shall return sometime Saturday Sept. 27, and am again on (stay at home) vacation until October 5.
If I can get my house into presentable shape, I would like to have a semi-formal tea party maybe next week.
And I'd really like to meet up for drinks some evening at the Secret Society...
What say you, brothers and sisters in steam?

Re: Portland, Oregon Thread
Tomorrow - To Seattle and back for a one day meeting (I hate that but I have no choice).
Friday - Work as normal
Saturday - To the beach
Monday afternoon - Back from the beach
Until the following Monday I am on PTO...
I'll probably be dead to the world until Tuesday, but Christie and I will probably be up for something this coming week.

Re: Portland, Oregon Thread
Well, as 'tis a picnic, one would presume food of some sort. Perhaps a potluck style would work, or if not, simply bring enough for yourself. A potluck would probably be preferable, however. I, for example, am bringing Victorian candies.

This is where you guys have been hiding...
I was wondering if anybody is still interested in Portland Haunted Underground Tour? 21 years and older, plus they supply the ghost hunting equipment! Halloween night is almost booked up, but we might be able to get a private tour on the same night or do it another night. What are your thoughts, it's like $19 per person.

I am interested in the Underground tour. I think Vajra & Stormfeather may be interested as well. We are putting up a Yahoo group for Portland events notification and chat, so we don't have to rely on BG or SG. Here's the address.

Hmmm... I was unable to attend as we had gone to Seattle for the Abney Park show the day before and did not return until late Saturday afternoon. I have not heard from the rest of the group as to whether the picnic happened or not. We had also been planning a tea meetup at Rimsky- Korsacoffee House - would people be up for a tea meetup this Friday evening 10/3?
Please join our new Yahoo group at

for events notification, calendar, and general Portland chat!

Re: Portland, Oregon Thread
Well, I'll have to create yet another email account so that I can sign up for that yahoo group then...
I dislike the number of restrictions that they usually put on everything (like requiring a yahoo id to sign up for a yahoo group...

brilliant!
Thanks for setting up the Yahoo! group, Mrs. Sullivan!
I am, indeed, interested in the Shanghai Tunnels tour! A private ghost hunting jaunt sounds lovely.
I'm wondering about tea on the 3rd - I think the Conflux NW Dark Arts festival is that weekend. The doors open at 7, so I may need to leave early, but I very much want to go!

Re: Portland, Oregon Thread
I'll need to drum up some more people but, what date would people like to shoot for?
Oct. 31 is on a Friday, maybe Oct. 30 or November 1st. I'd like to get a target date and proceed from there. I wanted to see when everyone else perferred.
Corrections:
There are two tours
Beyond Bizarre
Public Tour $29.00
Private Tour $190.00 minimum up to 10 people, more than 10 it becomes $19.00 per
person
Best at night it goes underground once and mainly focuses on myth and legend.
Portland Underground
Public Tour $19.00
Private Tour $190.00 minimum up to 10 people, more than 10 it becomes $19.00 per
person
Best at day and deals more with the history.
The Oct. 31st Beyond Bizarre tour is SOLD OUT. I'm finding out more info on if they can do do Beyond Bizarre private tours before or after Halloween.
Let me know which one you want to do.
I'll keep you posted

Re: Portland, Oregon Thread
regarding the yahoo group...
I hope you will give this a chance Zwack. unlike Google groups, you do not need a yahoo id to just subscribe to the e-mail list.
It is true that if you want to use the web features (links, calendar, polls, photo gallery) of the group you will need a yahoo id. You may receive group e-mail from any account, so no, you don't need to sign up or use a yahoo mail account if you don't wish too. I personally hate their ads (just say no to clicking), after 5 years of experience as a mod and/or a member on various group sites (tribe, envision and various forums, google, livejournal, meet up) and they all have their various good/bad points and niches, but I have just found Yahoo groups to be just the best tool for community ORGANIZING out there, so I recommended yahoo groups. I really like that it is easily customizable by the end-user. The calendar feature alone itself is worth the trouble IMHO.
BTW: You can go to "web only" and read the group mail over the web without your e-mail box being cluttered up. Please let me know if anyone needs help with this.... If someone could bring a laptop with wireless card to our next meet up with wi-fi available, I'd be happy to help people sign up and/or customize their settings.
Yahoo groups allow polls....Why not set up a poll for the Underground tours the way Mrs. S did for the coffee house meet up?

The picnic was indeed intended to be Sunday. I fear I myself was roughly 45 minutes late, having sprained my ankle running after the bloody omnibus. My apologies! Shall we reschedule for another time? Perhaps the Fifth of October?

Given the HPLovecraft film festival and... the other festival that same weekend (sorry I can't remember the name of it). Turnout is likely to be poor.

Then I fear this may die out. I, for one, will not be able to attend my own event, as I've reinjured the very ankle I injured in transit last weekend, and am now operating at far less than inventor's specification.
