Re: Steamy Knittery?
i think i shall stick with crochet... mostly due to my grandmum taught it to me...and im nostalgic. thank you ever so for the videos... hmmm say that out loud... i think it rhymes! anywho, i learn better visually than just reading instructions. i think i shall raid my sisters yarn closet(yes a whole closet!) she hasnt crocheted for years she has some arthritis issues.

Re: Steamy Knittery?
Sadly, I didn't learn from my female relatives; when my mom tried to teach me, I was a snotty teenager who sneered at something so frumpy as crochet (it was the 70's). When I finally did want to learn, my grandma was half a continent away, and my mom had arthritis; between The Happy Hooker and a Coats & Clark CD, I managed, but it's just not the same...

Re: Steamy Knittery?
I finished my socks today!
My first knitted thing got made into a little bag.
its not nice but I knit it on a pair of hair sticks, and I thought you left the last stich of a row on the needle.
I had no clue, but with the help of the net I an now much better then I was.

Re: Steamy Knittery?
oooh nifty sock! i started on my first bit of crochet in 18 year yesterday. its as if i never stopped. i remember how to do it just fine. im just making a scarf currently (black and white strips) i plan to make everyone scarves for xmas this year, and as i was thinking about that i thought next i should start on some granny squares. kinda as a jumping off point to making more elaborate things... and then i thought we should have a square exchange! we could all make a square per person involved and once we get them all you could make a scarf from them or a blanket! is anyone interested?

Re: Steamy Knittery?
Thank you.
you started to crochet at 9? if so then you and I were the same age when we started.
I hope to see photos of your scarf when it is finished.
I am making every one quilted potholders for christmas just have to get the right batting.
A swap sounds good to me
, but I will have to get back into them first,my crochet has been in the basket with the yarn for the last 9 months,up till now all my spair time has been spent on fabric cutting and quilt block making.I have too meny hobbys.
everything is being put on hold till I get all my ATC cards finished for the swap.
Cheers,
Dandelion

yup i learned to sew at 6 (by and and on a treadle sewing machine) and crochet at nine. odd thing is then it made no since to me and now it comes to me like i always knew how. im thinking some time after gogglemas or for gogglemas. i would take photos of what i have right now but im out of batteries until pay day.
but once i get some ill take piccies its about 12 inches by 16 inches right now. i plan for it to be obscenely long

Re: Steamy Knittery?
Dandeliondream, those are amazing fingerless gauntlets. I am so going to have to crochet a pair. Thanks for the inspiration!
That knit umbrella is brilliant. Just brilliant.
