Lamp Socket Candle Stick

Post  K. smithington on Mon Oct 27, 2008 9:37 pm

Take that, Edison.

^_Q Cheers!

~Smithington

P.S. Never thought it would take me this long to get on here, being the steamaholic I am.
What... What do you mean you've never heard of me?!?!

Smashing! I've had similar ideas to this, but I've not gotten around to implementing them as of yet.

And I see that you reside in Asheville. I too reside in this mountain town. Good to know there are other steampunks hereabouts.

In the last episode of season 2, Alec Baldwin's character goes to work for the Bush administration, in some sort of bizarre hybrid organization of Homeland Security and weather disaster preparedness. Their organization is so underfunded that they don't even have pens in the office, and all the lamps have candles stuck in them -- just like what you've done, except I assume you haven't done it out of desperation.

Greetings, Ashevillain!
I absolutely MUST tell you!!! Me and my father, Arbutus, have been posting flyers about town. Perhaps you've seen one?? SPATS the SteamPunk Arts and Technical Society!! I'll send you a message with some info. To see it arrive to you directly and securely, of course.

For those that would like to reproduce this; slap in the face of Edison, how did you attach the socket to the base?

Well, I had a little round brass thing with a hole in it and I saw that the hole was just large enough for the little part protruding from the socket end. I just jammed it into it with a mighty force and hoped it stayed put. Sorry for not making it more reproducible, but you could always just come up with something else to stick a socket into if need be. Wink

That's quite alright, you don't need to make it easily reproducable. Just show us, and we'll figure it out ... eventually.
Thanks
