Though I think you may still be able to find him at the Gaslamp Bazaar.

Edit: And long gone? He's gone, yes, but it can't have been more than a week since.

It is of the nature of the Ęthernet, I believe. The Ęthernet attributes a certain temporal flux to events with in it, so that some periods appear to pass in a flash while others occupy quite the disproportionate space in one's memory.

I suspect this is correct. It would certainly explain my experience in recent years (and it sounds so much better than encroaching senility!).
