Cravat pattern?
I would like to make a cravat for Mr. S., but have no idea about what the dimensions of such a thing might be. I recall seeing a cravat pattern on sale somewhere for $4, but as I am pretty sure that a cravat is basically a long narrow silk rectangle, buying a pattern seems like a bit of a waste.
I would like to make one properly, and am seeking advice and tips from anyone who has made a cravat before. Thanks!

Re: Cravat pattern?
Now I have only made them is doll size but I can't imagine human size is much diffrent. What I did was make a long fat rectangle with points on the end. It turned out like this when I tied it simpley and added a pin.

BUrdastyle Cravat
I was going to make a cravat for SalonCon, but ran out of time. From what I've gathered researching tie-making, you're supposed to cut on the bias and use tie interfacing, unless the tie is a sevenfold tie. tie making
burdastyle also has a cummerbund pattern and a bow-tie pattern, and other interesting items.

Re: Cravat pattern?
I prefer a cravat tied with a four-in-hand knot over a regular necktie, so I have several of them. It's really rather simple. Just a long rectangle the width of a shirtcollar and of length sufficient to go entirely around the neck thrice (you only do it twice, but you need enough left over to tie it). Four times if you want a longer cravat.
Oh yes, and with points at the ends, so it's more like a very wide polygon.
Edited to fix numbers
