BG Outage - update..
We've got a preliminary ETA; looks like about 10 hours... hopefully sooner, but no promises. Seems like a big thing went SPLAT! in their datacentre.. (NAS failure...)

Re: BG Outage - update..
that's what happens when you don't rely on Steam...... things go splat......
Question: Is "Splat" a tecnical term?

Re: BG Outage - update..
Well... Having worked with real steam high HP power ..even steam can have he occasional SPLAT... (the real technical term we used was unprintable.)
The sort of problems I can remember vividly were bearing overheats, injector problems, and the odd high pressure pinhole leak.. Most everything else can b fixed by either oiling it, or hitting it...
Cheers
Harold

Re: BG Outage - update..
Whee even having a time frame seems like progress. I have something to look forward to when I want to kill my quilting project. A baby quilt is not as easy as I thought it would be to finish.

Re: BG Outage - update..
May I ask?
Is there a PARTICULAR reason that the move to a new server has 'caused more DOWNS than I remember ever having with the old one.
Since the move we seem to be having these on at least a monthly basis.
Just sayin' is all.

I have to agree these do seem to be occuring more frequently and lasting longer..I mean it's 24 hours since I was last able to log onto BG and I'm getting withdrawal symptoms.

I think under the circumstances, and given HAC's history with computers, I think a "BOFH" would be a better choice.
(PS. To those who don't know what it is, it's reference to something those involved with IT will understand, bit of an "in-joke" as it were...)
(PPS. Goggle it if you really want to know, and read up on the activities of said BOFH - you'll enjoy it.)

Re: BG Outage - update..
Ah yes... The BOfH.. Harder to do in a mainframe environment , but one can be creative....

Re: BG Outage - update..
The page is back to "not responding". I wonder if that's good or bad?
The BOfH reminds me of my good old times in IT... *sigh*

Eeep!
I lost my first weblog that way, back in 2003. The provider deleted everything, accidentally. Then the provider was deleted.

Re: BG Outage - update..
Well THAT didn't last very long..did it boys and girls?
I managed to access BG late last night just before bed. I got into work at midday today (I am working til 8pm) and within 5 mins of being on BG I'm getting the 'page not responding' message.
Anyone else?
