An impromptu meeting in Brum.
Just a thread to see if anyone in the Birmingham area fancies ambling along to a tea shop or pub at some point in the next few weeks- most days are good for me save Wednesdays.
Is anyone else interested/When's good for everyone else?

Can do evenings after 7ish and weekends- except for the 26th, which is the Worcester Zombie walk.

Re: An impromptu meeting in Brum.
If it is all the same to you, I would prefer weekends, as it is an arse for me to get back to Wolves in the evening during the week. I propose at some point, we also need a trip to the German Christmas market when it comes round, pretzel in one hand, beer or mulled wine in the other, and stare at the singing reindeer.

Suggestion of next Saturday (25th October) in Birmingham in "UK events" thread. Cos we're not getting anything decided otherwise!

Re: An impromptu meeting in Brum.
As am I.
The question now is where- I'm fine with anywhere in south Birmingham pretty much & can cycle to a train station if its in the north! Otherwise we could just meet in the centre somewhere & decide where to go from there

Re: An impromptu meeting in Brum.
Turns out on Friday 24th there's a http://www.theelectric.co.uk/booking/films.aspx showing on the Electric Cinema. The EC is also in association with Le Fee absinthe, served in a traditional absinth fountain. A trip there is in order at some point, I think. (Though I'll be giving the horor fest a miss, not my cup of tea.) There's also some old school vampire films showing on Halloween, but some of us will be in Whitby for that.
A quick browse through http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/GenerateContent?CONTENT_ITEM_ID=2663&CONTENT_ITEM_TYPE=0&MENU_ID=1762&EXPAND=161 reveal several potential itemsof interest: Aston AHll looks like a pleasant spot for a picic when it re-opens (and the weatehr warms up). The http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/GenerateContent?CONTENT_ITEM_ID=95424&CONTENT_ITEM_TYPE=0&MENU_ID=14654&EXPAND=161 is a defineite must at some point (I believe someone was praising it a while back on BG. Ooh, and the Transport museum... the list goes on.
For Saturday, might I suggest a visit to the http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/GenerateContent?CONTENT_ITEM_ID=2705&CONTENT_ITEM_TYPE=0&MENU_ID=1763&EXPAND=161. Looks interesting, and of course there's time for tea and cakes/beer/ tea and cakes and beer afterwards.
And I'm now going to re-post this whole thing in "UK events" and "Waves from Brum" to try to ensure as many interested parties are aware as possible. Is ther a way to bring threads together?

Re: An impromptu meeting in Brum.
How about just a big meet in Birmingham? As for the Electric, why not. I can reccomend it greatly, and they do discount for students and have a fully stocked bar. I regularly have absinthe there (£4 a glass, £6 for XS). It is sometimes worth booking early. Although we could just go for a meet in Birmingham, maybe the BMAG for the day.

Re: An impromptu meeting in Brum.
I'd prefer to go on Saturday if its at all possible...
I'm fine with the Electric- I've been wanting to pay it a visit for a while now, although it'd be quite nice to meet up a dash before hand so we don't disturb the film with too much chatter. Otherwise as Gazongola said we could just have a big meet up & see where it goes from there -An idea which I am rather in favour of :}

Re: An impromptu meeting in Brum.
BMAG = Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery. it has (iirc) the world's largest Pre-Raphaelite art collection, and excluding london's galleries, it is the most visited gallery in england. a good mix of artifacts, antiquities and art, some great sculpture, industrial heritage and a pleasant tea room.
(i used to work there too... which of course is a more valid reason to go there than any of the others...)

Re: An impromptu meeting in Brum.
Ladies and Gentleman, it appears we have a location then. What time of day?
Lunchtime-ish would suit myself best so I can get back to Worc for the evening... have guests coming down for the Worcester Zombie Walk on Sunday.

Re: An impromptu meeting in Brum.
Great ill has befallen me! My parents & brother were meant to visit me during the week- but have just announced that they're coming tomorrow (sat) & while it'll be nice to see them, it clashes horribly with my plans -I don't know what time they're off (on sunday), but I may be around some point- if I PM someone with my no. they could give me a bell -otherwise I'll check the forum once I'm free & see if I can amble up to where you lot are.

While I feel a bit guilty for saying so - I think postponing it may be the best option -the weekend after should be ok for me, although if it were to be on saturday, it'd have to not be to early- what about everyone else?

Ahh I shall be in Whitby next weekend I'm afraid. So I can't attend
