Brass Google taken over by mediocrity...

Post  Gaspard de Coligny on Sat Dec 27, 2008 3:06 pm

Moderators seems quite infatuated with their status.

Insult remains unmoderated while opinion get silenced. AND to add to the fun these genius feel like lecturing you at the same time.

I knew I should have used paypal before pushing the "report to moderator" button.

Two options..
- work to improve it, by working with, not against otehr forum members
OR:
- Well, there is a saying in my part of the world... Goes like this..

"If you don't like it here, well, son, don't let the door slam you in the ass on the way out.."

Move on and find a place on the net more to your taste and liking..

One last thing.. "you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar"

Also.. I do not take moderator status as something to be"infatuated with". I've been around this Internet thing since the DARPA days, and have moderated hosted may forums, inclusing some that were inter-corporate. Moderation is a responsibility to try and make a forum work, and to keep things running smoothly. Over 35 years in the IT profession, and my reputation was one of fairness, honesty, and reliability. I take your reference to paypal as being a personal slander and in a bygone age, I would have called you out on it. However, as one wise man once said, "The spittle of a doorman will not drown a soldier". I was raised in Quebec, and I know things go , need I say more?

If you're suggesting that people bribe the moderators to get the results they want, I honestly think that says more about you than it does about the moderators.

There have been forums in the past that I have left because of moderators that had rather rule as tyrants than allow the free flow of thoughts and ideas. Brass Goggles has not been one of them. I will not be rude to you since I do not know your situation. While I would have said it a little more kindly, I agree with the sentiment of what HAC said. Brass Goggles is not a perfect place. The moderators are in fact humans (as far as I know) and are prone to human faults. If their style of moderating is not to your liking there is no reason to keep arguing your point here or there. Just move along until you find a place that you enjoy. If you cannot find a place, then you could attempt to create a place. Steampunk has a shortage of different forums across the net anyway. I for one would visit if you created another steamy forum.
My point is, the forums are for our entertainment. If I am watching something on T.V. and I do not agree with it or I am not entertained by it, I turn the channel. It is the same on the net. If I find a forum that I am not entertained by, I keep browsing until I find a place that I am entertained by.

Go your way in peace and have fun doing it.

I for one will stand up for Harold. He's a gentleman and a scholar in my book.
