Nah.. its usually 3AM, and the phone ringing.. Been there, got the t-Shirt..

Damn... got there too... still didn't get any t-shirt...
For info, in JST (Japanese Standard Time)
Brass Goggles
http Down Since: 5/12/08 - 22:48
0% Uptime.
(860) FAILURE: Check again in 30 seconds...
That means 15:48 GMT. The voice of the monitoring alarm going on in the loudspeakers of the corridor is getting really too common with BG. This and the overall "Myspace-ification" of the guests is starting to bother me. Somebody remember the address of El Shoggotho's new forum in Prussian ? (I just dusted my former dictionary)

I an top that.. I got a 5AM phone call on a bacth job that had failed (it was the key job that sorted out our tape management for the day). I hadn't supported it in over a year, but when they described the error, it turned out to be one I though we had nailed down, and I had a few batch jobs in my library that would fix it..
So I tells the operator to run them in a certain order, anotehr voice cuts in and says "it won't work". It was the fellow who currently was responsibel for that app stream. He had had me called in on the call.. I ask him why it wouldn;t work -- "Oh I made some chages the other day to the code".. Told him that it if he was stupd enough to change system code, well, then it was his problem.. ( I did tell him to call the DASD boys and have them restore the copy before his changes. He had no clue that we backed up res packs daily, as well as incrementally...)
Cheers

And even more of a fool for not having taken his own backup before applying changes. One thing that everyone should learn.

I had fully expected someone to ask this question by now, but since no one has, I'll bite - what are scotch eggs? I expected something that came from a plastered pullet ....Sir Nikolas Vendigroth wrote:I wouldn't mind a scotch egg...Zwack wrote:Well, they're missing the Scotch Eggs...

What, never tried a scoth egg?? The idea behind them is a nutritious, tasty snack that sticks to your ribs, fills you up and can be used as ballast if necessary.
Come visit us in this Sceptred Isle, Mr Marf, and enjoy all the culinary delicacies we offer. Scoth eggs, fish'n'chips, roast beef, Spotted Dick, Toad-in-the-hole...

You missed "pork pies" Mary... (and Tattie Scones, Drop Scones, Mutton pies... and lots more).
I have introduced my wife to Pork pies (I have to make them myself due to FDA regulations) and she likes them, but prefers them hot. The same goes for Scotch Eggs.

And we're back! ...again.
I was under the impression the recent down-time was expected to remedy these sort of outages?
Scotch egg, eh? Sounds delightful.

Re: BG down again?
I thought they were Australia's dish of choice?
Isn't anyone going to mention the Cockney favourite, jellied eels? Consumed in popular fiction far more than in real life these days but once the equivilent of chips-and-kebab as a late night snack for Londoners.

It is a tin of Spotted Dick.
Further, deponent sayeth not.

It's all about Steak'n'Ale Pies with me at the moment, i had one recently that had a whole pint of guinness in the gravy!!!
I made the mistake of going to a fish and chip stall in san francisco when i was on holiday, it was thin bits of fish in KFC style batter and french fries, (it was delicious, but NOT fish'n'chips!)

Oh, aren't they just fantastic? I do a vegetarian version with nutmeat-and-veg pies in pea soup, myself, which makes the criticism of scotch eggs I was about to make entirely hypocritical.
