What do we miss the most?
An open question: What are people missing the most while the BG forum is down?

I'd certainly go along with that. In fact, the postings were so constant that I (for one) could never even keep up with them!
Where are the posters of yesteryear? (to butcher Proust)

Re: What do we miss the most?
The rate of the postings, especially the spontaneous conversations/plays that developed (even when "wibble" hit even though it wasn't to everyone's taste)

Wibble?
I think I'm missing the frequency of new posts of works in progress and tutorials in Tactile quite a bit.
And of course I have an enormous, boyish, come-to-nothing internet crush on Captain Mouse, so it's always good to see her around.

Re: What do we miss the most?
Some of the postings in Tactile and some of the postings in Anatomical...
But just the postings in general...

I miss that post in the 'How To Thread" that linked to a beautiful, home made steam engine. Complete with extensive wip photos and a written description of the process.
I can't seem to find the site now.

Re: What do we miss the most?
I miss the Steampunk Space Helmet, the Steampunk Spaceship-in-Progress, the Galvanick Enhanced Lucifer (or whatever Mr Clough's nifty gadget was called), the Victoriental thread in Anatomical, much of the Tactile board in general, and...oh, goodness, too many to name! Also the "Dress-up" photo thread.

The portrayal board. I miss steam london, it was really getting good before this.

Re: What do we miss the most?
One misses, strangely enough, the handful of ridiculous threads devoted to pure drivel and nonsense. It rather stoked the fires of one's engines on the tracks of creativity--if I do say.

Re: What do we miss the most?
I miss the random stuff. I liked the general discussions about Steampunk. I liked having the tactile board there for questions. The stuff in the Dress up thread was amazing. I miss the textual board alot. There was some real creativity there.
I'm really missing the Steam London portrayal thread - mostly because there was just an influx of new people and alot of things left hanging.
Heck I just miss all of BG. There was always something new and interesting.

Re: What do we miss the most?
I miss the people and the general entertaiment qualities.
Going to the BG forum was like going to a buzzling marketplace of Thought. You could dart/walk from one stand to another, quietly looking and sampling. Sometimes commenting and conversing. Maybe even putting up a stand of your own and offering your own brand of thought and marvel.
I hope that metaphore wasn't too far fetched.

Re: What do we miss the most?
What do I miss? People agreeing with me!
Though that's presumably down to numbers, with 2000+ users there's bound to be someone out there that knows where one is coming from. Spare Goggles is shaping up very well, just needs to build up numbers a bit more. On the other hand, it's nicely accessible- on BG there were many threads with 10+ pages that looked interesting but too big to read/do justice to. That's not occuring here (yet), if it does at least I'll have got my oar in early.

Re: What do we miss the most?
I miss the random little things that turned up on BG and cheered me up. It was somewhere to go where i could just take a glimpse at a post or picture, drop in a little of my own information and feel glad to have helped.

Re: What do we miss the most?
It was my intention to fan the flame of imagination. Glad it flamed up.
Now that you, Miss M. Steamblast, mentioned it: It is sometimes daunting to read & answer to some threads because of the humongous ammount of material to read and consider. I too have at times felt the "Posting Pressure". Yet giving your opinion and insight to a thread is actually promoted and even accepted in BG. That is what forums are for. I'm sure no one would mind having even more active members.
I too miss the mood lifters of BG. Let's hope that the Goggles are fixed soon, good and proper, Captain Minty.

This is good. I also agree with it. I miss the sheer volume of Brass Goggles, the size and activity giving the feeling of being at the bazaar. The size also led to there being quite the compendium of resources there, both posted and linked. I also miss the presence of both nonsense threads and, well, sense threads.
And I miss the aural-ocular forum. I liked exploring the music and video links I found there.

Pretty much the same feeling here- I hardly ever tried too keep up with everything, but I loved how you could dip into any board & find a wealth of ideas oddities, curiosities & creations! I have to say I was rather partial to putting random words in the search bar, finding what they returned & then getting marvelously sidetracked from whatever I'm supposed to be doing & simply reading!
