Steamy Knittery?
So I noticed that there was a thread for those of us capable of weilding a sewing machine, but there doesn't seem to be one for those of us who work with yarn. If there already is one, just ignore me here, but I'd like to see what other steamy knitters are making and have made! And some patterns, if they're available.
My current project: A knitted corset, knitted from this pattern. I was thrilled to find this pattern, since I've been wanting something that looks like a corset (but isn't, since it has no boning) and is knitted, since I'm useless with needles any thinner than 2mm.

Re: Steamy Knittery?
I think socks are steamy. :3 Especially when paired with nifty shoes and a pair of breeches.
Scarves are, also. You've gotta have something to keep your neck warm while you're off exploring the Arctic or wandering the deck of your airship.

Re: Steamy Knittery?
I knit pretty well anything I can get my hands on. Knitwear is always great for gifts (I don't know how many scarves and gloves and socks etc. I've given out for Christmas and birthdays), and it looks nice, too.
My better works are on my DeviantART account, in my Knittery folder. The rest I either didn't care to photograph or had sent off to it's ultimate home before I recalled that I wanted to photograph it.
When I'm done with my corset, I'm going to start on this jacket. It struck me as nicely steamy. I'll have to learn split stitch, though. I haven't used it yet.

Thank you! I haven't the skills for it, either, but I'll learn as I go.
Good luck with your practice! And I hope to see some of your creations.

Thanks,my knitting is verry slow do to all the other things that get in my way like:house work, school work, and baby sitting.but I do hope to get some knitting done tomorrow so hopefully I can finish the sock I'm making, and start on something new and steamy.
I just love that coat!
have you ever made toeup socks?
I just found a pattern on knitty and was thinking of trying it.
well it is 12:00 p.m. so I better say good night,or good day to you.
cheers,

Re: Steamy Knittery?
Post pictures of your sock? I made a pair on two needles once, and I tried making a toeup sock, but it didn't quite turn out. I'm really better at working flat than working in the round.
Happy knitting, and good night!

Oh, no! I'd be lost without my knitting bag.
I'm having a bit of trouble with your photos, though...

Re: Steamy Knittery?
Pheobsky: I really love the lining on that bag! And the tassel is a nice little touch.
Dandeliondream: Now you've made me want to do more socks... It's about the time of year when snuggly footwear would be nice to have, anyway.

Re: Steamy Knittery?
I was going to start on that jacket tonight, but now I'm thinking I may just start a new pair of socks... in part because I really would like a new pair of socks, and in part because I've discovered that split stitch is an absolute monster to work. Good heavens...

Re: Steamy Knittery?
hehe I use the lining to draw everyone away from my bad knitting
I've resolved that I'm going to try & find some wool when I go up to the market tomorow! -I reckon I can probably get some needles from a charity shop... so hopefully I won't have to wait till my next trip to London to get knitting again. Anyways I think I may follow suit with the sock making- my current woollen 'lazing at home' socks are wearing thin & my kitchen floor is soooo cold in the morning.

Re: Steamy Knittery?
The knitting isn't bad! The lining certainly is distracting, though. So shiny... xD
Good luck finding some needles!

Re: Steamy Knittery?
My socks are on the needles right now. I'm so happy!
Alas, the socks have made me realize that all of the mistakes in the laceweight shawl have added up to a trip to the frog pond. From 1/3 complete to back to zero, maybe I'll be able to complete my shawl in 2010.
Cheers,
Hetty

Re: Steamy Knittery?
Each time I see the title of this thread I have to read it twice because I think it say Steamy Kitten, which I would have to say would be the cutest darn thing possible, please someone make this topic and have something to back it up!

Re: Steamy Knittery?
Hetty: Oh, heavens! I hate when the frogs attack. Though I do have substantial trouble every time I try lace. Which is one of the reasons I have stopped attempting... ~sigh~ Better luck on the socks, though!
Mr Clockwork: xD That would be tremendously amusing. I may have to knit a steamy kitten plushie now.
And people! I have finished the corset:
It's amazing how long the straps took me. They couldn't hold my attention.

Re: Steamy Knittery?
hello ladies! lovely work you all are doing... im considering learning (really re-learning) how to crochet and i was wondering, do you feel crocheting is as versatile as knitting?

Re: Steamy Knittery?
I think that it's more versatile, but it also uses far more yarn. Knitting is more economical. One can always add a crocheted trim later.
