Choker and watch pin construction

Choker and watch pin construction
I had a little free time yesterday, and wanted to see if I could make myself a velvet choker to go with a cameo pendant I already had, and a watch pin for my new watch. So off I went to Michael's for the findings, and after playing around with the bits and pieces I ended up with, I came up with these:
Watch pin

Back of watch pin, showing pin back, S hook, and back of decorative button (used to hide the top of the S hook that is stuck into a slot in the velvet ribbon)

Me wearing new choker and watch pin

Close-up of choker pendant and clasp

It's lovely! I especially love the choker. Gorgeous pendant you've got there.

Re: Choker and watch pin construction
Thank you! I'm thinking the cameo pendant might originally have been from Avon, but I'm not certain. (It was a gift.) I lost the original chain a long time ago. I hadn't originally intended to use the brass finding that it's hanging from on the choker ribbon, but after discovering it had a small hook on it perfect from hanging a pendant from, I changed my original design. Since the hook isn't closed, I can take the cameo off and substitute other pendants as I choose.

Stunning
I think that choker is another of those items that epitomise steampunk.

They are very pretty. I sometimes wish I was a woman, all these wonderful things they have... *ahem* What? Did I say something? Hmm, yes, very good...

Men have things like fancy pocket watches with long chains, rings, cuff links. Go crazy with the cuff links. 365 pairs are not enough!

Gazongola, you need Shirt Studs. If your shirts don't take studs... get new shirts.
As for the Choker and Watch pin... Huzzah!

Shirt studs. Those things are expensive. I have taken to wearing brooches on my lapels. I also have many rings, but they just don't really go with what I wear. As for cufflinks, I do need more.

My next project will be a watch chain, for the days when I don't feel like wearing the watch on a watch pin. A watch chain (especially one using heavier chain than what I'm planning to use) would make a nice, gentlemanly addition to your wardrobe, I should think, sir, if you're just dying to make something pretty.

I must see if my sister still has my father's Shirt studs (don't ask). Have you tried looking in Second hand stores? I wouldn't imagine there is all that much call for them.

I do own a watch chain already, that I wear sometimes. I think I will stick with brooches. And as for shirt studs, they are very hard to find. One day I want some jet and silver ones for my dress shirts. Anyway, enough threadjacking, I think I may make my own thread on the subject.
