Radiophonic Music

Post  neon_suntan on Sat Oct 11, 2008 1:31 pm

I'm becoming somewhat obssessed with the strange music made by the BBC Radiophonic Workshop in the 60's and 70's...

The strange wobulating throbs from DR Who soundtracks a well as the bizare jingles made by folk like Delia Derbyshire and unsung genius John Baker.

Any other Radiophonic fans out there?

Oh yes.

And great excitement in the Radiophonic world was recently caused by this:

the Radiophonic Workshop: A Retrospective

And Trunk Records recently put out a two disc collection of John Baker's BBC work, and the Delia Derbyshire KPM Sound Library LP got released on CD earlier this year, it's a good time for us wierdos Radiophonic fans!

If you geta chance to see a DJ set by Broadcast they play lots of that strange stuff, not that you can really dance to it just experience it :-)

I do wish someone like Trunk records would release the Delia Derbyshire soundtrack to "Legend of Hell House".

I'm going to wait til next month before I invest in the John Baker albums as well as that retrospective, as I'm trying to restrict my purchases in the run-up to Yuletide .
