I won the Children in Need competition to go and see the sets of Dr Who, Torchwood, and the Sarah Jane Adventures! [myself and 24 others]. I get to take three guests and we are off to Cardiff to see the sets and meet the prop makers and make up people, woohoooo!!!!

I think it should be done based purely on number of posts... Yeah, that seems fair... Or reverse alphabetic order of username. Both of those work for me. Smile

You lucky, lucky, lucky person. I am positively chartreuse with envy. Take pictures, if they allow it. Lots of pictures. Buckets of pictures. Tardis-loads of pictures.

Very Very envious

PS a friend of mine's garage (he lives in Cardiff) was used in one episode (the one with the girl who drew monsters during the 2012 olympics - can't remember the title) and Rose (Billy in real life) signed the wall for them - so they carefully covered it with an acrylic sheet!

£35 isn't that pricey if you consider he was willing to pay someone £20 to steal one...

So, buy one, visit the prop department on the tour and...

"Yes, I picked it up when we walked through the prop department"

Just don't tell him you put it down just before you picked it up.... Twisted Evil

The thing is, the coat (the main one - there are actually two or three different coats in use...) that Jack wears in torchwood is slightly incorrect, as in it's not actually an RAF version. The coat used is actually a slightly modified design based on a Sweedish or Finish version of a great coat, and is actually made by the BBC props dept, and is actually made from cotton (something about John Barrowman being allergic to wool). The one he wore in the first Dr Who episodes, was a real (wool) RAF great coat though.

So if anyone really wants an authentic Cpt Jack coat - just get a cheap one (charity shop, etc.) and modify it in the same way. Wink

Personally though, if I was on a tour of the Dr Who props dept, I would "accidentally" cover myself in super glue......just before I 'trip' and land in a pile of nice props..... Wink Laughing Seriously, I doubt I wouldn't at least try to nick something!
