Hoodies! and words to make the topic tittle longer like it says I need too...
I got a new hoodie the other day and was just curious if anyone has ever done anything interesting to a hoodie to make it feel more "steampunk-esque". Other than just sewing patches all over it. I dont know, just seams like you could do some neato stuff to it. ideas anyone?

Replace it with an old timey shirt and waistcoat and a top hat or bowler hat that would make it feel more "steampunk-esque"
Or failing that try perhaps making some stencils of awesome stumpunk things like a dirgible or zeppelin and then spary a solution of water and bleach over it on to your hoodie and you will have a zeppelin on it
I can't find the tutorial video on how to do this but it's as simple as make a strong solution of bleach and water and then spraying it over your stencil with a plant sprayer but don't then use it to water plants because it will still have bleach in it and it will kill the plants.
P.S. test your bleach on a corner too sometimes bleach makes things go a funny colour, more often than not pink or beige but sometimes a colour you might not like

Is it a zipper hoodie, or a pullover? Does it have pockets?

I would suggest a Google image search for "victorian hoodie", there are a few pictures that might give you some ideas.
Similar to JingleJoe's suggestion, I too would say some steampunk imagery would be a good idea (cogs, steam engine, etc), or even using a victorian style patern such as paisley or simialr.
You dont just have to use bleach for effects, there are plenty of fabric paints and dyes that can give fantastic results when used with a spray bottle and / or a stippling brush.
Use of the right colours (hint: think BG and this forum...) would also make all the difference to the desired effect.

I've recently done some silkscreening on one (and some t-shirts) that might apply. Clockwork and peacock feathers and a skull in a top hat.

Yeah I was thinkinh screen printing too, I have free accses to like three presses...haha. I'ts a zipper, I hate pullovers. And yes, it has those awesome pockets at the bottem that you can stick your hands in to keep warm when they get chilly. I think I'm gunna put a skull on the hood and ad some random feathers to it...I google victorian hoodies n see what happens. thanx for the ideas. =p

What about putting some ruffled lace round the inside of the cuff so it drapes over your hand? (Though now I consider it, I'm not at all sure you're a girl)

Re: Hoodies! and words to make the topic tittle longer like it says I need too...
I saw a teenage boy on the bus yesterday with what looked like a very steamy hoodie indeed! It was a medium brown background, and had two pieces of fabric appliqued on (one on front, bib-style, and one on back, shaped like princess seaming), with frayed edges. There was a sort of Gothic cross/ arabesque motif silkscreened on front and back in shades of black, cream, and bronze, and there were coppery and silvery-grey nailheads/rivets applied decoratively here and there. It was quite lovely, and I believe that it was a commercial design.

Do you sew? Take in the sides to give a tailored fit. If you are female, fit it to a corset, or add boning for fun. Then add the previously mentioned baubles as well.
