The Void Company - Knoxville, Tennessee Steam/Neo-Vic/Romantic meet-up

I am working on putting together a 'meet-up' in the Knoxville, Tennessee area for Steampunks, Neo-Victorians and Gothic romantics to have a chance to fraternize, plan other events, hold photo sessions and expose these elegant alternative fashions to the East-Tennessee area. We also want to give a chance for the young among us to come-out and share, outside of the dark 21+ club scene, which is dwindling in our area. The events will mostly take place in public parks and areas (such as Market Square off Gay Street) depending on the weather. We will have Facebook events and a MySpace up in a few days. This post is to seek out interested parties in this are who might desire to help with the events. We plan to hold our first proto-event on 4 November 2008. We are very interested in making this a monthly or bi-monthly event for those in the area.

The Void Company is Knoxville’s steampunk, neo-Victorian and gothic romantic meet-up, giving the wishful denizens of the 19th-century a chance for fraternizing, event planning, photography sessions, exposing our subcultures to the greater Knoxville area while most importantly, having fun in all of our fantastic attire.

Our first rendezvous will be at Market Square on Gay Street, in downtown Knoxville, Tuesday, 4 November 2008. More information on the exact time and place will come. It will be an opportunity to meet fellow enthusiast and socialize. As well, the local businesses provide meal opportunities, as well as shelter from the unpredictable Tennessee weather. No agenda is set for this meeting, however we do encourage those who can, to place your vote in the US national elections, regardless of your political affiliation (anarchist can consider themselves an exception) and going to the polling centres in your attire would be applauded. The gathering, however, will be non-political.

I will be alternating the date, because I know few people have traditional 9-5, M-F jobs anymore. I myself work the entire weekend and Tuesday mornings, with random other times thrown in.
