Collars and Cuffs
Does anyone know if men's Victorian style shirts with detachable cuffs are available? I have seen shirts with removable collars, and the collars that go with them, but have never seen any with cuffs.
Alternatively, do any of our crafty seamstresses have ideas about putting removable cuffs on men's shirts? In performing my housewifely duties this morning, I spent a good half hour with toothbrush, detergent and diluted bleach trying to get the wine and tea stains out of Mr. Sullivan's white shirts. Most of the stains were on the cuffs (along with a good deal of everyday grime), and I couldn't help but think that removable cuffs would be a godsend, as his shirts were otherwise quite clean. I am afraid that such repeated scrubbing will wear out the fabric of the cuffs before the rest of the shirt.

Re: Collars and Cuffs
What I would try is gently removing the existing cuffs with a seam ripper then taking them completely apart and using that as your pattern. How would you want the cuffs to be held in place? Snaps, buttons maybe basting stitches? Some will require extra space at the cuff to attach.

Expensive shirts
I found one supplier online (plus lots of fetish suppliers) but patterns seem to be easier to get hold of...
My experience with Edwardian evening dress was that the shirt had a detachable collar but not cuffs... Of course I am not an expert in any way.

Tons of free patterns.
This site is just awesome. I want to order their buckles.
Who here is really fed up with having to retype their reply because they accidently clicked something?

Thanks, Maggoty Anne! I've bookmarked both those sites. Those cuffs are the exact things I was looking for!

Re: Collars and Cuffs
I've been wanting to get a few detachable collar shirts for some time now. This site seems to have some very affordable collars: http://www.amazondrygoodscollarsandcuffs.com
Unfortunately they don't carry shirts, and now it appears the shirt sellers I bookmarked when I last looked into it, have gone out of business.

Ummm, they have a special at the moment. One shirt, five collars and a set of buttons... They sell the shirts too...
Scroll down on their products page... $59 per shirt.

Re: Collars and Cuffs
Hmm, if you're in the UK I belive barristers and judges have to wear such shirts. Could be a bit pricey though, and of course very formal. Hmm, in fact the more I think about it, the worse an idea it seems...
