I Made some cuff-links

Post  GarethG on Sat Sep 27, 2008 3:04 am

Well I purchased a nice shirt last week, with double cuffs, so I needed cuff-links (obviously)

I had a quick search on t'ętherweb, but failed to find something suitable (at least in my price range- I mean, £280 for a pair of -links? WTD?)

Then I thought: 'What would be SteamPunkey? Well brass, of course!' So I had a quick look in the hardware aisle in the shop where I work, and saw some brass S-hooks and brass chain:

Here are two pictures of the finished links:

I will be making another set soon so I will take some photographs as I progress.

Egads man where were you looking?! £280! Most highstreet jewelers sell cufflinks for well below that.

However yours are spiffing and contain the proper percentage of brass, when I first read 'S-hooks' I went 'Ooo', that was before looking at the pics.

Well they were on ebay Shocked, i think they were vintage ones, from America, but most of the ones on there were cheaper, or novelty ones, like hot and cold taps or beer bottles and bottle openers.

Another way of doing it I recently happened upon is to take a sufficiently stylish button (the sort that already has a shank built into the back of it, rather than the kind with holes through it) and affix it to a bracelet fob by way of a very short length of delicate chain.
