My Halloween Handiwork

A while back, I posted a new set of outfit photos I took, using some Halloween decorations as props, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was some general interest in seeing the elaborate decorations we set up at my house, and so without further ado, I present a photographic tour of Magister's Mansion of Manical Manslaughter...

I tried taking some shots of the living room with the lighting set up as we do for the party, but I couldn't get any photos that turned out especially great that way. It's the room with the coffin and the mummy as seen in my previous photos.

Anyway, those are the highlights. In full illumination I was able to get many more photos, and much clearer and more detailed photos at that but, it seemed to take something away from the ambiance.

I think you need to invite us all over so that we can see your handiwork in person.

Thanks everyone! CaptZaphod, and Zwack, I agree, and would love to give a tour, but I lack the coin for hiring a tour bus, let alone the airship that would be the appropriate way to go, besides I need to get it all put away before I leave town for a sci-fi convention on the 31st.

The whole process is beginning to wear me out. Basically, four of my friends, my uncle, my mother, and myself start the build up for Halloween in August, making props. Usually, we only add one big thing every year, first the coffin, then the guillotine, and the last two years have been spent constructing articulated pcv skeletal frameworks for mannequins so that we can get more realistic poses out of them. (I had planned to construct an electric chair with a Jacob's ladder on top for effect, but abandoned it due to safety concerns.) In September we start unpacking decorations and setting the interior of the house, and try to set up the yard the first weekend in October. In order to avoid conflicts, we set the party in the middle of October this year. (An event of such epic legend, that I expect to hear bards sing songs of it in years to come.) One can be sure the party was a success, because I can still see the aftermath around here.

Basically, the drawback, is that I spend most of my free time every fall set up an elaborate theatrical production. Though, this might have been the last year for doing it. Good help is getting harder and harder to find.

Thank you! We also decorate for Christmas, though not as extravagantly as theatrical stuff doesn't mesh as well.

We do take a lot of pride in putting up a memorable display. We always try to instill the most possible realism to every prop. For instance, a fact I forgot to mention earlier, the guillotine is functional, it just has a wooden blade for safety concerns.
