seeing as I tend to be around a lot, proteus has given me a restart ssh script. I can recycle lighthttpd and mysql, and that usually fixes things..

email - hacsteam@shaw.ca

I'll set up an IM in a bit

Dear Mad Watchmaster, don't you think that a monitoring software trigering the SSH script would be a little more convenient ?

At worse I can add a config line on one of my network management server who will test for a specific return from BG and send you an email after xyz failures. My connexion have a 98% uptime on 3 years. (2% made by a leak during the rain season triggering a ground fault and shutting down all power in the building... fuse panels take quite some time to dry :-(... Now if dadinlaw didn't wait 15 years to -still not- care enough to fix the the leak who comes from an electric box link on the roof kiosk maybe it would not have taken such biblical proportions )

I agree, automatic monitoring and pageout (with possibly an automatic restart) would be the best way. That's how I'm accustomed to doing such things (we used IBM's Tivoli suite to manage that at work). Unfortunately, the way BG is hosted precludes doing that easily internally at this current time.
I would appreciate if you could set that up on your end (and thanks for the offer, its greatly appreciated). Perhaps a once an hour "ping" from your network would suffice?
Please email me, and we can discuss..

Cheers
