Websites of note.
Any usefull sites that you can think of while we're waiting for BG to go back up again.
Alternate forums:
http://clockwork-gentlemen.forumieren.net/
elShoggotho's forum
http://www.ottens.co.uk/lounge/
Ottens forrum (both steam & diesel punk)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If it is of interest to anyone I will direct you to the discourse that lead to this post.
http://clockwork-gentlemen.forumieren.net/welcome-willkommen-f1/brassgoggles-is-down-t26.htm however I must add a note saying that my aim is to be as neutral as possible in while looking after sparegoggles, & I hope that in including this link I don't go over this boundary.
Many thanks
Pheobsky

Re: Websites of note.
HAhaha...he was critisizing you for making a whole new forum....ohh...irony...
And then he starts advertising his website as the better alternative...

Re: Websites of note.
I think the point, which he does not seem to grasp, is that this "stopgap" forum allows us to continue in the enjoyable practice of creating the "noise" posts he seems to so detest, without leaving the community we wish to share such noise with to do so. His new forum is not so much an alternative to Brass Goggles as it is a wholly different site, in form and substance. This forum, on the other hand, is (if I am correct in the intentions of its creator) an attempt to allow the continuation of Brass Goggles during our exile from it.

Re: Websites of note.
His use of the word alternative (as in a fully fledged alternative to Brass goggles (quoting from memory)) is, um, intersting, as it implies he believes (hopes? wants?) people will either belong to/post on BG or on Clockwork Gentlemen, but not on both.
Using addition instead of alternative would have been friendlier.

Re: Websites of note.
I used to think he was all right but that is just silly. I think of here as a loading screen where we can get information or mess about before the game itself loads. His forum is all right but it just doesn't catch my attention for some reason. But then again I never thought we were drowning in noise to begin with. I frequent the portrayal, anatomical and off topic the most so I might have missed it.

Re: Websites of note.
Honestly, his forum strikes me as rather morose, and a bit frightening.

Re: Websites of note.
Honestly, he sounds like Cartman
I don't like being "down" on people online but I can hold my tongue no more. How unbelievably rude and arrogant to denigrate what you have done here, Pheobsky. Why should you point people in that direction? Enough people on BG knew of the existence of his forum, and had the choice to go then if they wanted to.
Oh, and his forum has been going for a whole two weeks longer! Well hang up the bunting and bow before such an established and esteemed forum that has less than a third of our membership numbers.
I actually find it incredibly sad and pathetic that someone can give full reign to their megalomaniac tendancies because they run a forum.
Of course, I'm sure that shoggotho is challenged because he knows that by posting the link for SG that people will quite happily hop between both rather than pledging the weird kind of allegiance that he seems to demand of the forum members.
I apologise to anyone here if I've caused offence.

I have to agree with Emmeline.
bringing up ElShoggotho on Brass (or spare) goggles is somewhat asking for argument to break out.
close the thread, lest we perpetually argue about this damned subject.

Re: Websites of note.
Yes I think closing the thread is probably sensible- I shouldn't have posted the link at the bottom of my post, still I feel that I am obliged to retain a link to his forum as he has done likewise for sparegoggles & so I shall repost the links (sans thread link) in notices. Also I can understand what he was saying & why- I think that he just missed the point of sparegoggles a bit. To be honest I don't hold any animosity towards him & hope his forum flourishes.
--edit--
Also I like the analogy of this forum to a loading screen- I may have to use this somewhere
Quite right!
