Re: Forthcoming UK events and ideas
Brighton Sealife centre is really good
In my small town of Maldon in Essex, we have a victorian evening near christmas every year where the shopkeepers all dress in victorian gear and most of the town is closed of to cars with loads of people walking around. Would be great to see some Steampunks there
THURSDAY 4th & 11th DECEMBER
Maldon Victorian Evenings.
Maldon town and shops look back to a bygone era.
The High Street will be closed to traffic from 6pm.
Shops open until 9.30pm.
Come dressed in Victorian costume.
Revisit a bygone era at Maldon’s annual late-night
Victorian themed shopping extravaganza.
Entertainment includes stalls, Roast chestnuts,
a variety of music and a visit from
Queen Victoria and her Court make this an evening
not to be missed.
For further information, please contact
Chris Tibbals 01621 841063.
Also this place is just down the road if you want to make a day of it

Re: Forthcoming UK events and ideas
So, when are we gonna have another London event? So far I've managed to miss all of them, which is rather annoying! They look great fun but there's always been something else on unfortunately.

Well, this is getting nothing decided.
Anyone going to be in Birmingham next Saturday (25th)? I want to give a new outfit a test-run for Whitby.

I know a fantastic little spot in Hampshire, a once derelict Country House that is now externally restored, and a sceduled National Monument, hang on, I'll look up a link:
The Grange
It's also at one end of the Watercress Line Line, the Mid Hants Steam Railway, so we could concievably have a go on a steam train AND picnick at a stately home on the same day...
Oh, and it's got FREE entry..!

Ooh, not a million miles from me, and both the house and the line appeal.

BIRMINGHAM
Turns out on Friday 24th there's a http://www.theelectric.co.uk/booking/films.aspx showing on the Electric Cinema. The EC is also in association with Le Fee absinthe, served in a traditional absinth fountain. A trip there is in order at some point, I think. (Though I'll be giving the horor fest a miss, not my cup of tea.) There's also some old school vampire films showing on Halloween, but some of us will be in Whitby for that.
A quick browse through http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/GenerateContent?CONTENT_ITEM_ID=2663&CONTENT_ITEM_TYPE=0&MENU_ID=1762&EXPAND=161 reveal several potential itemsof interest: Aston AHll looks like a pleasant spot for a picic when it re-opens (and the weatehr warms up). The http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/GenerateContent?CONTENT_ITEM_ID=95424&CONTENT_ITEM_TYPE=0&MENU_ID=14654&EXPAND=161 is a defineite must at some point (I believe someone was praising it a while back on BG. Ooh, and the Transport museum... the list goes on.
For Saturday, might I suggest a visit to the http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/GenerateContent?CONTENT_ITEM_ID=2705&CONTENT_ITEM_TYPE=0&MENU_ID=1763&EXPAND=161. Looks interesting, and of course there's time for tea and cakes/beer/ tea and cakes and beer afterwards.
