BG camp, Malvern (UK), July
This was posted in BG last night, thought it could go here as well to gauge any reaction before it becomes another forgotten project, drifting int he endless wastes of the Neverwas.
In the "UK register of Interests" thread [on BG] a lot of people lived near to, or had links with, Malvern in Worcestershire. It is also a very pretty part of the country, so the idea of having a meet there has been bounced around on one or two occasions.
The Welland Steam Rally (http://www.wellandsteamrally.co.uk/index.htm) runs from Friday 24th to Sunday 26th July and promises to be full of steam-powered delights, so... what about the possibility of using this as a base around which to organise a Brass Goggles Camp? Camping was one of the options suggested on the embrionic "UK Steampunk Convention" thread, and if it's good enough for Lord Kitchener, it's good enough for me. How hard can it be to get a bunch of Steampunks in a field with enough tea and tents to see us through the weekend?
So, any input? Would you consider it a possibility, or is this something best left to the professional organisers?

Registering my interest! I think it sounds like a rather splendid idea!
My only dificulty is one of transport, however I'm sure I can sort it out one way or another...

Great Malvern is easy enough to get to via train & I'm sure we can arrange for car drivers to pick people up/ drop off from the station, or make similar arrangements.

That seems like a spiffing idea. But damn it, can you believe it, I have conflicting interests! I will be in a tent in Derby that weekend! Damn. Ah well, at least I will be having a larp... (bad pun intended).

In theory, I could come over, too...But, well, how hard is it to reach that region by public transportation? Keep in mind that I would have to come from the Netherlands

One of my best chums actually lives in Welland, so I could probably be a cheeky fellow and borrow his spare room...

Sounds like a great idea, unfortunately I will be heading north of the border that weekend to see Wolfstone in concert. (Not so unfortunate at all really, sorry....)
Hope all have a blast!

Oooh, Malvern, I live there; count me in! If we aren't doing any festivals that weekend, that is. Where were you thinking of having a camp?
Is BG down again btw? Just tried to visit after a rather lengthy absence and theres nothing there

Glad you found us, Plum. I was thinking about dropping you a pm since you're in the vicinity.
Even if people can't make it to the camp, it's still a splendid opportunity for people to come along for the day/afternoon, too.
