Still on track (so to speak) for Sunday the 19th. Weather reports are good, expecting a high in the lower 80s (around 28 Centigrade, 301 Kelvin) with low humidity, slight chance of scattered t-storms. That may change, of course.

On the agenda:

-Grills light off around 12; bring your own grill meats if you like, but we will have burgers, dogs, and perhaps children chicken as well. If you want to bring other things - drinks, potato(e) salad(e), rum chips, what-have-you, feel free. Give ...

Yeah. I was bummed, but I figured that if there were enough Airship Pyrates maybe next year we could do something....

Much worse than that....

It turns out that one of the performers and I do not get along, and he is the one that told the organizers not to let me do anything Steampunkish.....

This was posted in BG last night, thought it could go here as well to gauge any reaction before it becomes another forgotten project, drifting int he endless wastes of the Neverwas.

In the "UK register of Interests" thread [on BG] a lot of people lived near to, or had links with, Malvern in Worcestershire. It is also a very pretty part of the country, so the idea of having a meet there has been bounced around on one or two occasions.

In the wake of ImagiCon in March 2009 in Birmingham, Alabama (which exhibited a notable Steampunk flavor in its themes), local interest in Steampunk hit a distinct ascendant stride.

In response to the continued queries, contacts and questions, we are hosting a Steampunk Workshop/Meet-up in Birmingham, Alabama on Saturday, June 13, 2009. The workshop is free and open to anyone in the Alabama and Southeastern (USA) environs who would like to explore Steampunk.

Is there an extant Charm City (I would prefer City of Ravens, in deference to Poe) Steampunk group? Any interest?

I am outside the city in the nekulturny wastelands, but very close to the electrical carriage network terminus; would like to hear from any interested parties.

I also have a workshop at my disposal; it is over-supplied but drastically under-organized. I might be willing to swap tool access time for assistance in bringing Order from Chaos.

Thanks!

I'm making a trip to the great midwest to visit my brother in a few weeks. Does anyone know of a good antique clothing store in Kansas City, MO? I need to find myself a good tophat and I figure there must be some good places to look out there (and they might have some better prices than here in sunny CA)
